A sunny Saturday spin across the Sidlaws with good banter, strong coffee, and a hint of nostalgia.

Five boys …

Oh, do you remember that chocolate bar? We were old enough to remember Fry’s 5 Boys. A 5 block bar with an image of a boy, delighted on the first square and becoming increasingly glum as the chocolate disappeared leaving the last boy distraught at the thought of the chocolate being finished. Ah, those were the days.

Five boys, Grant, James, Rab, Harry and Ged left the Millennium Hall with all the excitement of that first boy.

Claire, we did wait around for you to arrive so really sorry if we missed each other.

Up and over the Sidlaws to Rab’s delight. He was genuinely delighted speeding down Pitnapie giving us each the “Rab Stare” as he passed.

The weather was superb, with warm sun and little wind, and great views across the Vale of Strathmore. We even managed to sit outside at Flour where they served up excellent coffee where the blethering consisted mainly of setting Donald Trump’s ears ablaze.

Rab left us after the cafe to go and catch up with an old friend. Secretly he didn’t want to be the greeting bairn at the end of the long going back over Pitnapie.

Another grand day out with the boys and sorry we missed you Claire.

Oh and almost forgot Grant’s swashbuckling socks, keeping up with the Kidd family tradition.
