Sunday Bliss on Two Wheels
By: Rab
Quick ride report from today's outing to Angus.
First Sunday ride out in a while for me. Rock n Roll duties on hold, so plenty of time for the bike. After fitting the obligatory winter mudguards the night before, I was glad to see it was dry and fairly mild during my weather check. Porridge and banana for fuel, and got myself ready for the days ride. Meet up point was at Baldovie Toll and Phil was bright and early. Brian was not far behind and we were soon off up towards Burnside of Duntrune. Bit of a head wind up Lumley den that got the heart rate up, followed by a lovely decent down into Glamis and onwards to Kirrie.
Roads were dry in the most part with the occasional run off from the fields in places, glad that we all had rear mudguards, as nothing worse than a face full of muddy water.
Pit stop of choice was Forfar driving range cafe, quality hot rolls and coffe all round, recommended.
Back on the bikes and through Forfar, up the brae with Carrot hill in our sights.
Brian soon disappeared as we ascended the famous col, scene of many a hill climb battle over the years.
No gravel on the south side descent, Brian informed us that the farmer had recently been out and cleared it up.
Bone shaker ride through Kellas on the rough section of road. Then onto the newly laid tarmac which is bliss.
Fast decent into Dundee where we split up for home.
Great to get out into the fresh air for a few hours. Good company as always.
